What a beautiful and poignant article. I had a different path but similar challenges in SAHM early years. Blue collar work ethic and religion seem very similar in that we're never enough and it's all about shame. Self acceptance has been the most beneficial habit I've learned. I'm not my laundry, my floors, my dishes, my garage, my body, I'm a whole soul living in here and as you said. I'm perfect as I am.
Thank you for sharing, Andrea. It's certainly a balance. I know I feel better when my house is clean, but it's so hard to find the energy with toddlers/small children running circles around you and needing so much of your energy at the same time. I have given myself permission to hire a cleaner a couple hours a week to help us out, while David heads back into another coaching gig for indoor soccer. It's hard not to equate my worth with my lack of skills in organization, since our patriarchal society has deemed it a female job to maintain the household (cooking, cleaning, appointments, etc.). I'm glad the unfairness and inequality of it all is being highlighted in this time since the Divine feminine has woken up with a sacred rage surrounding this topic and many others.
